The core Orchid team is small and beautifully formed. Sam and Allan are supported on a daily basis by Account Managers Hayley Mallett and Summer Parkin and Account Executive Amy O'Brien. Orchid has a network of highly qualified associates who provide additional specialist services when needed.
Sam Watts
Director
Sam is a highly qualified marketer with many years experience of PR and marketing in both the public and private sector. Before Orchid, Sam worked at NatWest's head offices in London before moving back to Jersey to take up a role with Jersey Tourism managing PR, marketing and brand campaigns for both Tourism and Jersey Royals. With excellent planning, financial and campaign management expertise Sam enjoys strong working relationships with many leading brand, research, advertising and new media experts, many of whom are now Orchid associates.
Allan Watts
Director
Allan brings a wealth of experience to Orchid. Till December 2009, Allan was Head of News and Content at ITV in the Channel Islands, responsible for all on air and online news content, programme development and production style. A law graduate, Allan has considerable experience of the regulatory framework in which the media operates and specialises in legal issues relating to privacy and the media. Allan has been a print, radio and television journalist for more than 20 years and has been a correspondent on a number of key areas including tourism, finance and economic development. Having written and delivered specialist communications training courses for local and national businesses and government agencies, Allan heads up Orchid's suite of bespoke training solutions. including media training, presentation skills and video production.
Summer Parkin
Account Manager
Summer joined Orchid in 2010, having previously worked as PR Executive in a Jersey communications agency and as a member of the Jersey Telecom Marketing Communications team. She has a wealth of valuable experience built from working with clients from a variety of sectors and delivering solutions across the marketing, PR and event management disciplines. Summer graduated from Bournemouth University in 2008 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) Degree in Public Relations. During her final year at university she acted as a key member of the 2008 winning International Communications Project team, developing and presenting a global PR campaign for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Summer’s creativity, knowledge of the local market and passion to deliver projects on time and on budget make her a real asset to the team.
Hayley Mallett
Account Manager
Hayley came to the Island in January 2011, bringing with her ten years of marketing experience gained in integrated marketing and PR agencies in London. Having focused on event marketing and project management, she’s worked on a huge range of projects that have taken her all over the UK, Europe, the US and Hong Kong. Clients have included business and consumer brands such as Oracle Software, Cadbury Trebor Basset, De Beers- and award-winning campaigns for Umbro and Save the Children. Her favourite project in the UK was launching the England Football Team Away Kit for Umbro in a warehouse in East London- screening an England World Cup game live and turning the space into a pop-up shop and heritage museum hosted by football legends both past and present. Now happily settled in Jersey with her Jersey-born husband, she’s excited to be bringing her experience and ideas to Orchids current and future clients and is spearheading the Orchid Events service.
Amy O'Brien
Account Executive
The youngest member of the Orchid team, Amy joined us early in 2011 on our internship programme. After a successful six month placement, she joined us full time as an Account Executive, having become a key member of our thriving team. She has already become a key part of the Orchid team, assisting with the many events and product campaigns that we have been rolling out over the summer. Amy also takes a lead role in managing the social media sites for a number of our clients.
Henry
Office Dog
Henry plays a pivotal role in the day to day running of Orchid's office. As guard dog, playmate, raider of bins and best friend to the postman, he has carved a canine niche for himself very quickly. Having just celebrated his first birthday, he still has alot to learn. Our collection of water sprays from Pound World haven't deterred him from wreaking havoc when the mood takes him. But he is a black lab so we are reliably informed this is normal! Say hi next time you drop by.
